Gate Ministries

On Sabbath afternoon several Maxwell students and a few staff ventured outside of the protective walls of Advent Hill. We were reaching out to the local inhabitants of Rongai. After we broke up into groups, we began handing out literature to anyone whom we walked by. I buddied up with Brian and Pempho and the three of us crossed the busy street and headed for Rongai.
On the way we gave out literature to all kinds of people. One lady asked us if she could go now after we had finished our spiel about the literature. Some folks spoke little English, so I left the conversation with Brian and Pempho who can both speak Swahili. One man was obviously drunk, but he happily took the pamphlets anyway. Our group made a stop at the near by car wash and found a man waiting as his car was getting cleaned. As we handed him the literature he asked us whether or not we were with the people who were burning the Quran today. We quickly assured him that we were not doing anything of the sort and told him we were from Maxwell Academy. Maxwell has a very high reputation around here for being a place that contains honest, Christian people who can be trusted and reliable. It's a good feeling to be at a school where you can be sure that God is a part of everything that happens there.
