Ancient Corinth 1

After lunch we headed to Ancient Corinth. I was kinda disappointed though. We only spent a short time there. I could have spent a whole afternoon wandering around and reading things, but we spent maybe an hour there. But the time was well spent.
Paul resided here for eighteen months (see Acts 18:1-18). Here he first became acquainted with Aquila and Priscilla, and soon after his departure Apollos came from Ephesus.

The Temple of Apollo in Ancient Corinth.

This is evidence of a prestigious Jewish Synagogue in Corinth. The spent some serious money on this structure because it had marble reliefs like this one.

This is an example of the famous Corinthian Capitals placed atop columns.

This location is most fascinating because it is where Paul stood before the Roman proconsul, being accused of encouraging the people to 'worship God in ways contrary to the law.' (Acts 18:12-13) Paul supposedly stood on the left where that short stone pillar is standing now. Cool!
